As any practitioner of Feng Shui can tell you, the single most important thing you can do to get the most out of your home is by paying attention to color. Color is the single biggest determining factor in attracting love and romance to your bedroom, education and peace to your children’s room and health and harmony to your living room. But don’t think that by just throwing up some paint that you’ll be ready to go. Attention to detail is extremely important and the shade of each distinctive color you choose is very important.

One reason for introducing the principles of Feng Shui  into the home is to bring luck to all who live there, so knowing how to get that luck is an important part of the process. It’s also a lot of fun, and can make for some interesting décor that’s sure to become conversation pieces when friends and family visit.

Many animals are considered lucky in Chinese culture, so consider them helpers around the house, bringing luck and financial success. Once you know where the major guas – areas related to money, love, career and such – are located in your home, you can add lucky animals to bring success and wealth.

One of the more interesting accessories for a feng shui enthusiast to include in their home is the “wealth vase,” a vase filled with personal items that are precious to the owner, which is said to attract luck.

To make your own luck vase, find a beautiful and, preferably, valuable vase to hold your precious items. The vase can be made of earth elements or metal, although earth vases are more effective. Earth vases can be made from porcelain, crystal or clay, while metal element vases can be made of copper, brass, silver, or gold. If you’re designing your vase to serve as an interesting decorative item, crystal will allow you to see the items inside the vase, but any of the above materials will do – if you can’t afford a solid gold vase (and most of us can’t) then gold or silver plate is fine.

In Taoist legend, the Eight Immortals are something like saints, and their presence in one’s home is said to bring peace and happiness to the homeowner. They’ve been immortalized in beautiful paintings and sculptures, and add a beneficial element to any home. Each is shown dressed in iconic costumes, holding objects that reflect their particular form of magic

The Eight Immortals are said to guard the eight directions, so representations of them in your home are considered very good feng shui. Thy are said to bring longevity, good fortune, healthy offspring, wealth and good reputation to those who display them. Taken together, they represent all things that are good, positive and beneficial

Feng shui experts say that all energy takes one of five forms – fire, metal, earth, water or wood.

Our personalities can be categorized by these five elements, as well. Fire personalities are impulsive and passionate. Earth types are sensual and grounded. Metal personalities are classy and tasteful, while waters are emotionally sensitive, and wood people are open-minded and ready for anything. If you can identify which type your potential lover is, you can use feng shui  to attract them.

If you’re attracted to a Fire personality, introduce fiery elements to your home – especially the bedroom. Use the color red, especially red candles, to light a fire under that special someone. Warm, spicy room scents appeal to Fire personalities, so get a scent diffuser or light some incense. Spark up your furnishings with a classic red Chinese carpet or some bright throw pillows. To make a lackluster lover regain interest, make sure your bed doesn’t have a canopy and invest on sheets, pillowcases and a comforter with a red hue.
