A Review of Adyashanti’s Meditation Technique and One Simple technique you can Use Today!

Adyashanti is an American spiritual teacher whose real name is Steven Gray. He uses the Sanskrit name that means primordial peace. He is best known for teaching meditation techniques and being an author for various books that deal with his teachings. He has established a large following and clientele in the San Francisco Bay Area and even teaches in other parts of the world. Here’s a review of his meditation technique.

According to him, true meditation does not require a certain goal, strategy, or direction. While most meditation techniques deal with attaining something, let’s say a particular state of mind, his meditation which he calls true is abidance as primordial consciousness.

One can only achieve pure meditation when his mind is not focused on objects that require to be perceived. When a person’s mind begins to focus, respond, and interpret an object, what happens is the mind starts to interpret and see it in a distorted and biased way. This natural conditioning of the human mind leads to false assumptions and conclusion.

Thus, the simplest technique in meditation is when you leave all objects functioning naturally. What you need to do is never place a single effort to judge, interpret, or influence any type of object you’re seeing. Adyashanti emphasizes the difference between achieving awareness and being aware at objects. The former is the goal of every meditation. It is then called as primordial awareness.

Everyone can actually follow Adyashanti’s meditation technique. The only thing that needs to be done is have faith in the technique in order to reach the deepest levels of meditation. In the process of getting into relaxing awareness, your mind’s instinctive response to object interpretation will gradually disappear. The end goal is building a state of mind with open receptiveness, absence of any goals and expectations, silence, and the maintenance of a natural condition.
