But one common issue a lot of us face is the difficulty of finding happiness and success. Because of the existence of different problems, stress, and challenges, being happy, at peace, and successful has become a tedious and improbable goal.

So what are the things that you can do in order to ensure lasting happiness, success, peace, and emotional well-being? There’s actually many simple ways to start. Listed here are twelve of them.

1.       Trust your instincts. Men are born to have the most sensitive instincts of all. It means that when your mind and emotion tells you about comfort and discomfort, rely on it. There’s no one else in this world who knows you best than yourself. If you think you’re happy with a decision you made, stick to it.

2.   Look at the future but live in the present. Another key to lasting happiness and success is if you avoid dwelling in the past. We all commit mistakes and experience failures. But what happened before should be considered history and you must focus your attention on what currently exists in your life, with a reservation of what’s in store in the future.

3.       Take a break from the pressure of everyday life. Remember that life is not always about performing duties and responsibilities. All of us need time to relax and meditate. In this method, you will attain peace and emotional well-being. If you tolerate the pressure of work and responsibility to consume you, there’s no room for happiness.

4.       Next, you also have to pay attention to your goals and objectives in life. Think of any kind of goal you want to achieve and you will realize that the end of it all is always about happiness and success. Thus, look at your specific goal at its zenith point – where you attain both happiness and success.

5.       Learn to trust yourself and give up the dependence towards others. No matter how selfish it sounds, the reason why you live your life is for your own sake – for your own well-being. Because of this, what you need to do is trust yourself when it comes to making decisions. Don’t let others walk through your life and dictate your destiny. Life is your own canvas and you’re tasked to draw the image in it.

6.   Do not argue that much. Because if you do, you’re letting anger overcome you. Engaging in frequent disagreements and arguments obviously leads to sadness and bitterness. You’re putting yourself in a no-win situation. To be happy and successful, avoid arguments and heal yourself with peace.

7.       Avoid judging others. Put in mind that each of us is unique. You cannot assume that a person you meet for the first time is likable or friendly. There are others you meet that have negative attitudes. But don’t judge them because if you do, you are actually losing a part of yourself. You’re depriving yourself of the right to accept and love even those who are not lovable. Lasting happiness is about being able to positively deal with other people, regardless of their background or personality.

8.   Eliminate the poisonous components within you. The attainment of peace and emotional well-being is achieved if your body and soul is free from any toxins. Toxic components include people, emotions, and the food you eat.

9.       Get rid of that fear mentality. It’s acceptable that we all have our own share of fears. Fear is actually a product of instinct. Nonetheless, it must never ruin your search for happiness, success, and peace. Facing your fears will enable you to be stronger than what you really expect. With fear overcoming you, there’s no room for happiness, much more success.

10.   Keep the future in mind. Bear in mind that there’s no other place for you to go but the future. This means that in order to become successful, you have to look in advance. Try planning out what you really want after a few years or so. Think of the bigger picture.

11.   Love yourself the most. They say that we find happiness in loving and caring for others. That’s true, provided that you also save some of that love for yourself. You cannot be happy if you’re sacrificing everything for others. You need to look at yourself as a treasure. Live your life in such a way that you’re making things work for your own good, and next for others.

12.   Finally, always be thankful. People who are unhappy and unsuccessful with their lives are also the ones who are always bitter and unsatisfied with what they have. You should be thankful of everything, even those of failures and mistakes. Being thankful means consistently looking at the brighter side of things.
