Feng shui for health

Feng ShuiIf you find yourself more relaxed in a sage green bedroom, or more energetic in your butter-yellow living room, you’ve felt the advantages of Feng Shui, the ancient art of bringing harmony to your home through the placement of objects and choice of colors.

The most important life area in Feng Shui is the one devoted to health. Without health, little else matters, so it should be your main concern when arranging your home. Chi, the energy that constantly flows throughout our bodies, can be adversely affected by stress on the body. Chi flows through our blood, our skin, our muscles muscles, and our organs. When the chi that enters our bodies is pure, it facilitates the healthy flow of energy through the body. But if the flow of chi is impure, has very little value to the body or can even pollute the system. Feng shui helps to assure that the chi in your home is pure and healthful.

Health in the home

Health energy is constantly moving throughout our homes, the central energy in our living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and even our garages. It ‘s the energy that’s interconnected with all of the other energies. If you have a poor supply of chi in one of your life areas, it will have a negative impact on your health.

There are a number of ways to bring health energy into your home. The first step is to de-clutter your life – clutter blocks the flow of chi in the home. Start in one room and work your way through the entire house, removing clutter as you go.

Then use the principals of feng shui to encourage health chi – the color associated with health is yellow, and its number is 9.  So place a vase filled with vibrant yellow flowers in your living room, or paint your bedroom a warm daffodil shade. Hang a wind chime, with nine chimes, near an open window to draw in the sunshine and good energy.

Feng shui solutions to common health problems

If you’re plagued by sleeplessness, add soothing greens, blues and neutral colors to bedroom. Make sure your bed has a solid, stable headboard and face the bed towards the door.  Keep your bathroom door closed. Avoid too many mirrors in the bedroom and hang calming pictures on the walls.

For chronic pain, add cheerful, healthful yellow to the rooms in which you spend the most time. Place tall, upward-growing plants and happy pictures in the room. Avoid any sharp angles that point towards where you sit in the room.

If you have a persistent problem with low energy, bright colors – yellow, orange and red – will liven you up, as will cheerful pictures. Remove plants that are dying or drooping.

When you find yourself constantly stressed, remove or fix all doors that stick, run into each other or don’t open all the way. Fix drippy faucets and avoid white walls, because both increase stress. Add mirrors to rooms.

To your health

To a large degree, health is a state of mind. The health of your home will encourage health of your mind, body and soul.  To refresh your home, fill a spray bottle or plant mister with purified water and add a few drops of lemon oil. Mist the various rooms of your house and meditate on the health of your home and family, perhaps chanting a positive mantra asking for good health and good energy to come to your house and family. Enjoy the healthy flow of chi through your home for years to come!
